Certified Organic
Having always used natural ingredients in their pure castile soap, Dr. Bronner’s became officially certified organic under the USDA’s National Organic Program in 2003. In 2005, Dr. Bronner’s expanded their range into other organic personal care products which proudly display the USDA organic certification seal – one of the strictest certifications in the world; based on criteria for certifying food.
100% Biodegradable
Completely biodegradable and vegetable based, everything that goes into a Dr. Bronner’s product will decompose naturally without disrupting the environmental balance.
No synthetics
Dr. Bronner’s soaps contain no synthetic foaming agents, thickeners, preservatives, dyes or whiteners making them safe for the whole family, grey water systems and the environment.
Super-concentrated
A little goes a long way with Dr. Bronner’s! Concentrated formulas mean less wastage and great value.
100% post consumer recycled cylinder bottles and paper labels
All Dr. Bronner’s containers are 100% post consumer recycled bottles meaning the entire product is produced from recycled materials and they are able to be recycled, reducing the amount of waste going to landfill. Dr Bronner’s Bar Soaps are wrapped in 10% hemp-flax and 90% post-consumer recycled paper from the Living Tree Paper Co.
Dr. Bronner’s Background
Dr Emmanuel Bronner was a third generation soap maker who spent his life renouncing hate and war on a personal mission to unite mankind by giving public lectures on the message of world peace and the dangers of communism and fascism, following the death of his family in the Holocaust.
His strong views landed him in a mental asylum in Chicago, but eight months later in 1948 Bronner escaped and continued giving lectures in California. He also began making peppermint liquid soap under the ‘Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps’ brand. He gave away soap during his talks and when he realized people were taking it without listening to him speak, he started writing his philosophy on the bottle in tiny script, which is still used on Bronner’s packaging today. Dr Bronner’s Magic Soaps celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2008 and are currently the number 1 selling natural soap brand in the USA and Japan.
Despite Dr. Bronner’s death in 1997, the company continues to flourish under his son Ralph, daughter in-law Trudy and grandsons David and Michael.
