Family Fun with Dr. Bronner’s!

Are you stuck for ideas on what to do with your children while they’re on summer holidays? Well, look no further as we have a handful of fun activities that will keep the whole family entertained. From making your own slip and slide, to getting creative with a DIY soap scrub session, these three tips will keep the kids busy and in return, make your life much easier!

Slip and slide

Replicate our Dr. Bronner’s Magic Foam Experience at-home to keep any child (and adult!) entertained. Ideal for a hot summer’s day or to bring out at a kid’s party, slip and slides are easy to make yourself and are an affordable family activity. All you need is a tarpaulin sheet & something to secure it to the ground and some of our Pure-Castile liquid soap. When mixed with water, our soap produces froths of bubbles and means spaces can be quickly transformed into a magical wonderland! And there’s a bonus… Not only will the children be covered in foam having fun, they’ll also be left feeling completely refreshed and tingly clean! No more bath time chores for you.

Make a DIY castile soap scrub

If your children love to get creative but usually just end up making a mess, creating a DIY soap scrub is the perfect activity. Whether they’re making it for themselves or as a gift for their school friend, our Pure Castile bar soaps are suitable for any skin type. And with a range of flavours available, this activity suits everyone. If you’re stuck for inspiration, try Lisa’s go-to (aka the easiest!) scrub recipe below:

Simple Sugar Soap Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 60ml of Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile liquid soap (any scent)
  • 310ml of granulated sugar (or another exfoliant of your choice)

Directions:

  • Place the soap in a bowl and then gradually add sugar, mixing with a fork to blend completely
  • Store in an airtight container – yep, that’s it

Coffee Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 133g used, dry coffee grounds
  • Grated Dr. Bronner’s Almond Pure-Castile Bar Soap (or soap scent of your choice)

Directions:

  • Toss the two ingredients together and store in an airtight container.

Clean the house

Yes, you heard that right, you can make cleaning fun! A lot of parents like to avoid cleaning with children in the house because some mainstream products contain harmful fumes (and it’s easier to get things done without your name being yelled every five minutes). But most of our cleaning products are not only safe to use around children, but they are also safe to be used by children. So, why not start the younger ones off by cleaning their own toys with non-toxic products like the Baby Unscented Pure-Castile Liquid Soap. Once you’ve turned their chores into play time, you won’t look back! We’d also recommend creating some of your own cleaners using lemons and bicarb of soda, so making ‘potions’ with the kids is a great way to educate them on ways to use natural ingredients around the home.
