Introducing the All-One UK Initiative

November 2019

As we head into the giving season, we are thrilled to launch Dr. Bronner’s All-One UK Initiative, part of a global effort implemented by the activist soap company to share its profits in support of a better world.

Dr. Bronner’s embraces an approach to its brand activism that seeks to build and strengthen movements across diverse groups with a focus on equity and inclusion. As the international community rises to implement solutions to support future generations in the face of social injustice and environmental instability and exploitation, this programme is ensuring that activism and advocacy in the markets that Dr. Bronner’s sells its products in. This is at the heart of the company’s continuing global growth and expansion.

Through the All-One UK Initiative, at a minimum, 1% of Dr. Bronner’s sales to the UK market each year will be donated to local advocacy efforts in support of social justice, animal advocacy, and environmental sustainability.

Dr. Bronner’s President Michael Bronner, who leads the company’s international development, has made this a priority to ensure our brand activism will have an impact that is aligned and locally relevant in the UK. He shares our excitement over the extraordinary organisations we are deeply inspired by and we are glad to be working together to help elevate awareness of the amazing work they are doing.

By the end of 2019, Dr. Bronner’s All-One UK will have donated to three highly effective organisations and initiatives within the country that are aligned with several of the company’s core focus areas, which include animal advocacy, environmental sustainability, and social justice.

One of the first official grants Dr. Bronner’s made this year under the banner of the All-One UK Initiative was a £11644 donation to Compassion in World Farming, who the company has been supporting since 2013. Compassion in World Farming was founded over 50 years ago in 1967 by a British farmer who became horrified by the development of modern, intensive factory farming. Today, the organisation continues to campaign peacefully to end all factory farming practices. Their work is based on the belief that the biggest cause of animal cruelty on the planet deserves a focused, specialised approach – and as an organization, they are relentlessly focused on ending factory farming. Since 2013, Dr. Bronner’s has donated over USD $2.5 million to leading animal advocacy organisations and other efforts that are working to end the suffering and exploitation of animals and are advocating for a transition to healthier and more sustainable food systems.

With the need to tackle climate change ever more pressing, Dr. Bronner’s is pleased to be supporting the UK Youth Climate Coalition (UKYCC) with a £1940 donation in 2019. UKYCC is a not-for-profit group of 18-29 year olds who volunteer and collaborate to mobilise and empower young people to take positive action for global climate justice.  Tackling climate change at its core, they challenge the roots of social and climate injustice to create a better world for all.

The number of homeless in the UK is expected to double by 2041 to around 575,000.  Dr. Bronner’s has been a long supporter of homeless organisations in the US and is now pleased to be supporting Emmaus in the UK with a £1940 donation in 2019.  Emmaus supports people to work their way out of homelessness, providing meaningful work, training, support and a stable home for as long as someone needs it. Together we can help offer empowering developmental opportunities for those who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion.

The implementation of this initiative in the UK market, as well as Germany, is a pilot programme for 2019. The company plans to launch local All-One Initiatives in the majority of its international markets in 2020 following a similar mandate. In addition to financial donations, we already donate soaps and other products to festivals, community and educational events, fundraisers, animal sanctuaries, and direct-action campaigns across the UK and around the world throughout the year.

We are honoured to work with the company in a way that provides opportunities to connect on a deeper humanitarian level beyond the integrity of our products. We hope that people will be just as motivated to support the selected organisations as we are, especially as we head into the giving season. All-One!
